Championship Sunday got started bright and early with the final game of the women’s division. Team Ontario and Team Nova Scotia met for the third time, with the Ontario squad leading the aggregate series 8-1 heading into game three.
Ontario started things off quickly with a free hit opportunity, Sonja Hotke tapped the ball for Jasmine McKnight who sent the ball into the top right corner of the net.
Meghan Jeffries added another to give Ontario a 2-0 lead, but a scramble Infront of the net led to an Ontario own goal. Evie Adams was credited with the goal for Nova Scotia.
The second period welcomed two more Ontario goals as Hotke and Elise Van Thielen hit mesh.
Nova Scotia put the pressure on in the third. It paid off when Ida Hudson sent the ball past Ontario goaltender, Jenn Lynch. Van Thielen responded quickly for the Ontario squad.
That goal sealed the deal with the 5-2 win, claiming the 2024 national championship.

Nova Scotia Tournament MVP: Bri Hunter The Team Ontario men were granted a rematch with Team British Columbia (B.C.) who went undefeated in pool play, including a 2-0 victory over Ontario. With the championship on the line, Ontario wasted no time getting points on the board.
Wesley Tenneson found the net first, needing only 23 seconds to get Ontario a score.
Avery Nielson-Webb followed, and Tenneson added another before the end of the opening 15 minutes.
The second period was quiet, seeing no goals or penalties throughout.
The final period of play saw another stream of Ontario goals as Oscar Soederland landed a pair, and Reed Hunsberger contributed one.
With a dominant 6-0 win, Team Ontario earned the right to hoist the championship trophy.
