Looking to U19 WFC with Team Canada Manager, Simon Roethlisberger

A look ahead to the U19 WFC tournament with Team Canada Manager, Simon Roethlisberger.

The World Floorball Championship

I had the chance to speak with Team Canada’s Women’s U19 Interim Manager, Simon Roethlisberger. Simon was very excited to see what is happening in Belleville, ON, “This is something that Canada has not seen yet.” He credits much of this unprecedented event to Brett Davis, head of the planning committee. Over the past couple of years, Brett has put together an amazing team to prepare for a very important tournament in the international floorball community.

This is this the first World Floorball Championship (WFC) to happen outside of Europe. Simon explained that it is wonderfully abnormal to see all the media attention that floorball is getting in Canada. The world coming to Belleville for this tournament is quite significant not only for Canada but North America and the rest of the world.

The Women’s National U19 Team

The team has three strong players who are returning for the WFC this year. Regarding to rest of the team, Simon expressed, “What is exciting for me is seeing many young players looking very solid and skilled. It is really promising for women floorball players in Canada. It looks like we have a great future ahead of us.” Simon believes the team has a great chance of winning B division in the upcoming, WFC, and move up to A division.

Team Canada is ready. While speaking with Simon it was confident he felt the team was ready. They had a friendly against a much stronger Sweden but he could really see the team’s synergy.
