Floorball Canada Men's program put together a Canada Selects floorball team to participate in the 2022 Texas Open in Forth Worth alongside the Men's Team playing the AMER qualifiers. The team practiced throughout the week with the men's national team in preparation for the tournament.
This group of players were selected as men's national team hopefuls who would be able to come in and play if needed.
The team battled hard in the round robin of the B Division finishing 2-0-1 and winning their group. Once elimination begun, another win for the Selects classified them as the #6 seed. A 3-1 quarterfinal win against Austin Floorball Club placed the selects in the semi-finals where they lost 5-4 to the Chicago Dogs in a nail biting, back and forth game. The bronze medal game showed some heavy and physical play against the USA Men's U19 team but unfortunately Canada dropped the game 4-1 to finish the tournament 4th overall.
All the boys had a super fun time being able to compete in a tournament again for the first time in 2 years especially in the Lone Star State. The team recognizes the invaluable effort goes by Stuart Bowden Sr. for organizing, fielding and playing alongside the team.
